Trendy gastronomy at Lake Sorpe

The Sorpe Reservoir in the middle of the Hochsauerland district impresses with the many leisure opportunities around Lake Sorpe. The new foot and cycle path along the idyllic Sorpe Canal, which was built in 2005, has since attracted many tourists from the surrounding areas.

The Sorpesee lido is located in the immediate vicinity of the water. The catering facilities at Strandbad Sorpesee are located directly on the grounds of the lido itself and are mainly used by visitors to the outdoor pool in summer. However, special seasonal events are also held here outside of the associated opening hours or the premises are used by third parties for private events such as birthday parties or weddings. Due to the unique location directly on the water, the desire to create a maritime environment and thus create a lasting vacation feeling for visitors was obvious.

Gastronomy building for party location and outdoor pool visitors

The main challenge in this project was to design the catering areas in such a way that they did not appear too lavish and appropriate for a visit to the outdoor pool, but could also be transformed into an attractive party location in just a few simple steps. Due to the open architecture, the furniture and floor had to be easy to clean and robust against all weather conditions. We have deliberately opted for a high-quality mix of materials combined with playful details. At the same time, due to the permanent presence of well-lit daylight, we opted for an indirect form of lighting that creates atmospheric effects in the evening light.

The use of rustic timbers and linen fabrics – as in the illuminated ceiling covering – harmoniously combines state-of-the-art kitchen equipment and solid furniture. Palm trees and the unusually designed boat-shaped counter are the dominant details in the overall design, which is surrounded by hand-lettered blackboards and bamboo mats. The rust-look bar area, on the other hand, is one of the outstanding highlights. Warm wall colors and red wood tones are reminiscent of the sunset over the sea, while the expansive view from the terrace invites you to dream.

Within a few days, an authentic beach bar with Caribbean flair was created, inviting visitors to reminisce about their vacation a little longer.
